More of Jaelyn's 1 year Photo Shoot

As you can see, we got so many good shots from the photo shoot...it will be hard to decide which ones to get! I guess that's a good problem to have :)

Hiking by the cabin

We went up to the cabin this weekend...for a little R &R! We had fun relaxing (a.k.a sleeping!) & going on a little hike. I say little because we were probably only gone for 45 minutes or so. It was about 45 degrees when we left the cabin but the temp soon dropped and it began to **snow**!! YIKES! We weren't prepared for that cold of weather, so we turned around. At least we got to try out our Kelty hiking bag...we are ready for CO this summer!

Jaelyn flashing a smile...she really enjoyed being outside (well, until it was snowing!)

Jaelyn thought it was a fun game to try and get Marcus' hair or hat while hiking...she kept giggling while she tried. So cute!

All bundled up...or as bundled up as we could get!

Just a fun picture I captured of the two them at the cabin!

Jaelyn at 1 years old....

Some facts about Jaelyn at 1 years old

Weight: 20 lbs 4 oz (40%)
Height: 30 1/4 inches (85%)
Favorite Toy: That's a hard one...she just got a ton of new toys for her birthday! She loves her new Fisher Price Little People School Bus Ride-On from Oma & Opa & still loves her Laugh & Learn Learning Home
Fascinated by: birds, doggies, garbage trucks...really anything that moves or makes a noise outside, dumping food on the floor when she is full (we have to stop this fascination!)
Loves: to dance when music is playing, swim class, story time at the library, bath time with Daddy, to be tickled ("baby ribs"!), to smile for the camera, to run, run, run, to climb up the stairs, to drink from her sippy cup
Latest Skill learned: she can clap her hands, snap her fingers, & push buttons on her toys when we ask her to do so....without us having to clap, snap or push the buttons to get her to mimic us! Pretty impressive...she gets what we are saying!! :)
Favorite Books: she loves to "read". I'll catch her flipping through the pages of books & babbling to herself...I wonder what story she is telling herself. A couple favorites if I have to pick for her are: Barnyard Dance, by Sandra Boynton or the Usborne Animal Hide-and-Seek (touchy-feely farmyard tales)

A typical day for Jaelyn (more for me to remember!):

7:00am: Wakes up & has ~6 0z bottle of whole milk (the switch to whole milk went great...she downed the first bottle I made for her!)
7:30-8:30am: Play, Play, Play!
8:30am: Eats breakfast (although it's a pretty small meal~usually fruit, cheerios, waffles, etc)
9:00am: Nap
10:00am: Wakes up for some more playtime (or on Wednesdays we head to the library for story time, Thursdays it's playtime in the nursery during m2m group, & Fridays we have our water babies class)
11:00-11:30am: Eats Lunch (grilled cheese, mac-n-cheese, left overs from dinner the night before, veggies, fruit, loves to drink water out of her sippy cup)
12:00-1:30pm: Play time or runs errands with Mom
1:30-3:30pm: ~5 oz bottle & then nap time
3:30-5:30pm: Play time, again!
5:30pm: Dinner
6:30pm: Bath time with Dad
7:00pm: Mom gives ~8 oz bottle & then to bed! She curls up with her blanket for a full nights sleep :)

Jaelyn's 1st Birthday Party!

Wow...we had such a fun birthday party for Jaelyn on Saturday!! She sure was spoiled by everyone!! We were blessed to have lots of family & friends show up and my dad was even able fly out for it (even though it was a quick 36 hour trip)!! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful afternoon...the sun was shining & it was 80 degrees! Us pasty white pacific northwest folk aren't used to all that sun & heat quite yet!! Thank goodness Oma had some sunscreen & a hat for Jaelyn so that she wouldn't get burned (someday she'll grow some hair!)

Butterflies were the theme for her party...so I decided to make one for her 1st cake! I don't know if it was because she was overly tired or that she didn't like the taste of the frosting...but she really didn't get messy. Even with Marcus' coaxing she still didn't get messy with it! Oh well! :) Easier clean up!!

Jaelyn was such a trooper the entire day....it was go, go, go for her the entire time! So much to see & do....simply walking on the grass was a blast!! Even though she didn't take her usual 2 hr. afternoon nap (I think she knew something special was happening) she was still runnin' around.

Here's Jaelyn opening up her gifts...ok...more like here's me opening up Jaelyn's gifts!

"Daddy, can you help me figure out how to work this clock?"

Jaelyn LOVES this toy she got from Oma & Opa. It makes lots of fun noises when you push certain buttons! :)

Jaelyn's all tuckered out from her birthday party festivities....sitting in her chair with her new doll that her Great-Great Aunt made for her!

I had to get a picture of Jaelyn & Grandpa Post before he flew back to Grand Rapids...she finally warmed up to him by the end of his stay (she wasn't too sure of him at first)!! Thanks for making the trek, dad! We are really looking forward to camping in CO this summer so that she'll get to know him better.

All in all it was a wonderful, fun filled day! I still can't get over the fact that my little girl is 1 years old....but, gosh...it's been the most amazing year of my life!! I love you, Jaelyn! :)
