The Farm

We had such a fun time at The Farm at Swans Trail with our good friends Erik & Kathy and their girls Sophie & Clara. It was a beautiful, sunny day...and even a bit on the warm side! We enjoyed all the activities at the farm (the wagon ride being Jaelyn's favorite), but somehow managed to leave without getting a pumpkin! I guess we'll have to go to a pumpkin patch again!!

There was a "corn kernel pit" that the kiddos and fun in!

Ben trying to figure out what this was all about! He seemed to have fun even though it was hard for him to run.

Jaelyn trying out the water pump to propel the rubber duckies down gutters.

What a little poser on the old tractor!

He loved seeing all the animals at the farm

The piggy races!

Holding on for dear life on the swing!

Looking right into the sun...not used to squinting so much!

The girls hard at work

Thinking she is hot stuff wearing my sunglasses!

Tomatoes!

It hasn't been a great summer for growing tomatoes-too cold & rainy....but we still have managed to get a bunch. Everyday the kids go out & check on the tomatoes (& strawberries) to see if there are any ripe ones to eat. Friends think it's crazy that they LOVE to eat veggies...& I think it's crazy that I have to deal with some tantrums when I cut 'em off at 5 or so tomatoes! Who would ever think that I have to stop them from eating too many at one sitting?! Our neighbor (who owns the chickens) also brings over produce from their garden now and again. You should see Jaelyn's face when she sees Brian at the door. It's priceless. She can't wait to dive into whatever he brings over...whether it be tomatoes, strawberries, carrots, pears, plums, etc.

Double fisted!

Ahhh....it tastes SO good!

Our leftie!

Our leftie just loves to use his spoon & fork at meal times! It makes for a very messy event when we are dealing with yogurt/applesauce, etc...but it keeps him occupied! He's actually really good at it...you can tell he is concentrating hard at stabbing the food with the fork & bringing it to his mouth. He's growing up!! I should have taken a picture after he had eaten all of the yogurt...because it was everywhere!

1st day of Preschool!

Jaelyn's 1st day of preschool was a success! She was so eager to get in the car & get to school! Thanks to the rain & colder temps, we had to sport her rain jacket...but she didn't seem to mind that I still wanted a picture outside!

"Let's go, Mom"! Jaelyn didn't really want to take this picture-she wanted to get to her classroom!

Yep, no hesitation! She was ahead of me by a long shot! Rain boots in hand...they go out to play rain or shine!

Next to her cubby...

Mrs. Pitts & Jaelyn. It will be fun to see what she'll look like at the end of the school year!

Jaelyn is proud of her first project at school! The poem reads:

Sometimes you get discouraged,
Because I am so small
And leave my little fingerprints
On furniture and walls.
But everyday I'm growing
And soon will be so tall
That all these little fingerprints
Will be difficult to recall.
So here's a little handprint
That you can put away
So you will know how my fingers looked
On this special day.

When I picked her up, she was happy to see me (or at least that is what I told myself!). Without any prompting, the first words out of her mouth were, "I had fun, Mommy"! And then she went on the describe her entire morning at preschool! From coloring & painting, to using scissors & playing in the sand, oh and don't forget about circle time, blocks, legos & snack! Phew...what a morning! She also wanted to know in detail what Ben & I did while she was at school...so cute! Another cute moment was as we were getting into the car to leave...Peter, another classmate, was also getting into his car & she knocked on her window to wave good bye! Hopefully no budding romances...just the start of a friendship! I'm so glad she had a great experience at preschool...now to try and explain why she has to wait until Monday to go again!

"Pack-Pack"!

Jaelyn had her "meet & greet/openhouse" at her preschool on Friday. Boy is she super excited to go!! We met her classmates-6 girls & 2 boys along with her teacher, Mrs. Pitts & assistant Mrs. Phelon! We also explored the room (a super cute room that is!) by playing the game "I spy with my little eye"...I think she is ready to go! Probably one of the things she is most excited about is her "pack-pack" (aka back pack!). She picked out the pack-pack all by herself & eagerly waited for it to arrive on our doorstep! She had to wear her pack-pack to the meet & greet! So cute!

More pictures to come on her 1st day of preschool!!

Diving!

Jaelyn's first ever dive into the pool!
