Memorial Day Weekend Camping!

We were super excited to get our camping adventures started for the summer!  We counted down how many more sleeps we had until we would be camping...so fun!  This time we went to Rasar State Park.  We knew going into it that we were risking rainy weather because we weren't going to the other side of the mountains...but we wanted to try this park out.  Well....we definitely dreamed of sunny/warm weather while there!  It rained a ton...but we still had fun and made great memories.  Although I was eager to pack up and leave the soggy weather on Monday morning!  :)

On Friday it was pouring rain - so much so that we packed up the kids and drove 30+ min. to an indoor playground.  Kids had a blast - Ben ran around so much that his hair was soaking wet from sweat! :)  Then it was a quick stop at a Costco for some yummy (cheap!) ice cream.
Even Brooke got to try the big kid's slide
Yep, it wouldn't be camping without Aaron using his blow torch to get the fire going!
Ben, Anna, & Jaelyn roasting carrots!  :)
Ah, yes....pizza pies over the fire!  Tradition complete.
Adorable Brooke enjoying life
..and it wouldn't be camping without smores!  YUM!
Not sure what's so funny...But Ben is laughing hysterically!
Jaelyn have fun around the campfire too

...more camping

Saturday was picture perfect - no rain & the sun even came out!  We took advantage of the weather by going on a hike as a group, riding our bikes a gazillion times around the campground, and we ended it with a turkey fry.  We may have started a new tradition too!  The turkey was super good...not to mention the other things we fried....hot dogs, bacon, twinkies, & oreos.  For next year we decided to each bring some fun things to fry.  I'm thinking of taking along a snickers bar...mmmm...delish!  :)

Brooke, Ben, Lincoln, Jaelyn, Anna, & Emily - - all ready for our hike!
Boys and their stick!
Playing by Skagit river.  Throwing rocks is endless fun!

Brooke's bestie, Parker.  Parker's mommy decided to have their baby girl - - so he tagged along with the Borst's for a couple nights.  Brooke was in heaven to say the least!!  :)
Look at that bird!  Yummy!!

marketplace

Jaelyn's 1st experience with marketplace was a smashing success!  She paired up with a 4th grader, Grace, and together they bought a business license to sell melted crayons (heart shape/circles), bouncy balls, & origami cranes (everything had to be homemade and you could not spend more than $10) .  They did a lot of prep work for this event - they created a survey to see what colors/price points people would buy their things & had 3 play dates to produce their goods, make their business sign, price sign, etc.  Good practical stuff was learned by this event!

Ready to sell!!
She's a happy camper buying some items from classmates!

Mother's Day Tea

One of my favorite mornings I look forward too!!  Ben could hardly wait for this day to arrive.  He kept asking me how many more days until the Mother's Day tea & wouldn't give out any clues as to what they were working on!  They work SO hard on all the details of the morning!  It truly is special - - Ben escorted me to my chair, pulled out my napkin and laid it in my lap, helped me pick out the tea I would drink and got me my plate of goodies!  I'm so blessed to be your mom, Benjamin!  :)

"I don't know how old my mom is.  She likes to make chocolate chip cookies.  We would make a couple and they taste good.  There's even some cookies that you can make that you don't have to put in the oven.  I love my mom because we go on bike rides a lot.  We like to watch "Cat in the Hat" on tv.  My mom loves me because we play with Legos a lot.
