Cake #2

Here is the clown cake that I made last night at class...turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself!! I definitely wouldn't want to have the slice of cake with the clown on it...way too much frosting!!

Master Piece #1

My friend & I are taking a cake decorating class at Michaels this month. Here is a picture of my 1st cake that I decorated...not bad! The cake is a two layered cake with filling in the middle too! We are going to taste it tonight for dessert!!

Boy, I definitely have "baby decorating muscles". You wouldn't think cake decorating would be hard on your muscles, but holy cow...my right hand was tired from squeezing the decorating bag all night! I had no idea what all went into decorating cake...much less prepping the cake to decorate!

We are also learning about the different kinds of icing...who knew? It's all about the consistency of the icing....stiff, medium, & thin. It took me about 2 hours to make the icing for the first class! It should be a lot faster from now on, though. Next week we are going to learn how to make roses...should be interesting!

When Daddy is away....the girls will play!

With Marcus gone to Houston, TX for work...I decided to have a little girls outing today! We ran a few errands, did a little shopping at the mall (found a couple bargains!), rode the 25 cent horse & train, had a lunch date together at Ruby's Diner, hit a Starbucks, and played played played until we were exhausted and needed our afternoon nap!

Choo-choo!

Nice, horsey!

Ruby's Diner is made for kids! The kids menu comes written on the bottom of the train that you have to construct...plus stickers! What fun!! Keeps them occupied for a bit!

Plus, Jaelyn loves trains...and they have two train tracks mounted to the ceiling. She actually stayed in her chair the entire lunch because she was so mesmerized looking at the trains & other fun things in the diner.

What's a morning without going down a slide?! Jaelyn LOVES going up & down the slide.

And, of course...we had to say hello to the bear...."nice bear".

Cousin Photo Shoot

Here is the one and only picture we had of all the girls...together...looking at the camera! Ha!

Elisabeth, Alexis, & Jaelyn

I got a couple great pictures of Jaelyn during the morning photo session. I was planning on taking her back next month for her 2 yr. old pictures....but how can you top this one? I just LOVE it!

So adorable!

Just another cute one of her...

"These boots were made for walkin'....."

Just another fun activity Jaelyn likes to do. Boy does she think it's funny to wear Daddy's cow boy boots! You can bet that while I'm getting ready in the morning she's in the closet putting on his boots! (At least it keeps her occupied!)

Farrel McWhirter Park

It was a GORGEOUS day today...sun was shining with nothing but blue sky! So after Jaelyn's nap we headed to Farrel McWhirter Park to see the animals. Jaelyn had a ball & didn't want to leave! It's great to have this park ~5-10 minutes away from our house!

Jaelyn & the BIG pig. The pig was "nigh-night" according to Jaelyn.

A turkey, some chickens & a sheep together

Jaelyn LOVED watching the goats & bunnies (aka "hop-hop"). She even got to watch a baby goat nurse from her mommy!

Here Jaelyn is picking up a rock to "feed" the chickens! I'm not sure how she figured this one out, but she would throw the rocks through the fence so that the chickens could eat. She thought it was funny that the chickens would run after the rock and peck at it to see what it was!!

Fun with the Cousins

Lexi & Jaelyn "reading" books together on the couch

On Wednesday the 3 cousins got together for a day of fun! Us moms thought it would be great to get their pictures taken together...we had a 10am appointment all lined up at JC Penny's with coordinating outfits for the girls! Well, it was a disaster to say the least! Imagine trying to get all 3 girls to pose (sit) at the same time while looking at the camera...and well...smiling too! Yeah right. Jaelyn actually was a champ at it and sat beautifully. But Lex & Elisabeth had another agenda...either running away to explore the room or having a meltdown!! So, after a stress-filled/sweaty 30 minutes & jelly bean induced sugar high for the girls (bribery!) we bagged the idea & decided to come back in the afternoon after lunch and their naps. Call us crazy?! We really wanted to get a photo of the girls before the boys invade on their territory! The 3pm appointment rolls around...we arrive just in time (thanks to some accidents on I-405)...and we actually got the girls to cooperate for a few seconds. We brought some fun toys to keep their attention & promised them we would go play in the kid's cove play area. ONE whole picture turned out....ahhh...chalk it up to being a memory we won't forget!! (I'll post the JC Penny picture once we receive it!)

Here are a couple shots of the girls after the dreaded photo op...happily playing at the play area in the mall!!
