family pics

A quick impromptu family portrait session done on red brick road by our house.  We had a 30 minute window of opportunity with the sun setting...and we got a few keepers!  Looking at the picture, I wish that we weren't all in stripes, but at least we got a picture of us at this stage in life!!  We were all a bit cold...it was in the low 40's when we took the pictures!  Ha!

Christmas Tree!

We got our noble fir this year....however, Ben wasn't in the mood for a picture!  We decided to head to our favorite fruit market rather than a u-cut place because we could get a noble fir cheaper and plus we didn't want be outside in the cold with Brooke.  I did miss the experience of going up and down the rows of trees to find the perfect tree, but for this year this was way easier.  Plus the market is a short 2 min. from our house! We had our tree picked out in 5 minutes!  :)
Took the opportunity for a little photo op because it wasn't raining...the kids in their winter gear!

7 months!

Oh, our sweet little Brooke...you are 7 months old today!  It's been quite a ride the last 2.5 weeks!  But thankfully you are thriving and packing on the pounds!!  Note to file (for myself!): On Oct. 24th - you went in for your 6 month check up and hadn't gained an ounce since your 4 month check up.  The next week you had lost an ounce...you were weighing 13 lbs 14 1/2 ounces.  It was a week of anxiety & stress for me as you wouldn't supplement after nursing - even after trying 5 or so bottles & 5 different formulas!  So, after a direct admit to Children's hospital on Nov. 1st - - and an over night there, we were discharged with you taking about 2.5 ounces of formula after breastfeeding (getting anywhere from 1-3 ounces of BM).  Praise the Lord!  Thankfully we stumbled upon the "magic nipple" and formula that you preferred at the pediatrician's office the morning of the hospital admit and we've stuck with that ever since!  On Nov. 5 you had a weight check and you were up 6 oz (14 lb 4 oz) and then today (Nov. 12) you weighed in at 14 lbs 15 1/2 oz...11 oz gain in a week!  I am so incredibly thankful that it's not a battle to get the bottle into your mouth anymore & that you actually open up your mouth when I bring the bottle to you!!  Next up is getting back to introducing solids to you.  We took a few steps backwards and you haven't wanted to try them since the dreaded week of trying to get you to take the bottle...but I'm sure we'll get there sooner or later!

So, what else is new with you?
  • Constantly rolling over from tummy to back and back to tummy
  • Sits up almost completely unassisted.  I'm sure you'll be there soon enough!
  • Starting to get your knees up from under you...the start of crawling! But even this little extra movement allows you to move around the floor & get toys!
  • Loves the exersaucer and can play in that for a good chunk of time!
  • Before the whole feeding fiasco...you were digging oatmeal & rice cereal, winter squash & had 1 day of yo baby yogurt!
  • Still is size 2 diapers...but I can see us moving on up to 3's shortly!
  • Still spitting up!
  • Still have the clogged tear duct - hoping it opens up on it's own!
  • Favorite toy?  The teether that Aunt Karen brought back from Japan for Jaelyn when she was a baby (this has been the favorite teether for all 3 kids...the Japanese must know something!)
  • Babbles, blows bubbles, giggles all day long!  Such a happy kid!!
Love to see your hair growing!!  I also LOVE that it has some strawberry blonde color to it!!
 Siblings!
Just another one because you are just too darn stinkin' cute!

Kenmore Air Field Trip

Ben was off on another field trip with his preschool class...this time to Kenmore Air!  Boy, did he have a fun time checking out the float planes!  Only in the PNW can you do field trips like this!  They got to sit in a float plane, watch them take off/land in the water, and see where the planes get put together or fixed.  He loved every minute.  So cool!

Some of Ben's classmates - the sun even made an appearance!
Happy to get a chance to sit in the plane
Ben's good friend, Lincoln....they are always goofing around!
